About
Who we are
The Nibbana Meditation Association is a non-profit organization for Buddhists practicing samatha and vipassana meditation according to the teachings and techniques taught by the late Ven. Nyanarama Mahatthera.
Our Background
In a wider sense our meditation techniques are closely related to the Burmese Vipassana school as reanimated by Thaton Mingun Sayadaw and his pupil Mahasi Sayadaw. Under the spiritual guidance of Ven. Nyanarama Mahatthera, one of the greatest meditation masters of Sri Lanka of the last century many traditional Sri Lankan samathā techniques were revived and finally incorporated into a holistic step by step program.
A systematic approach to Buddhist Meditation
It is our dedication to keep these meditation techniques alive through dedicated personal practice and to share them with anyone interested. At the same time we focus on supporting and conducting research into Buddhist meditation. Taking Ven. Nyanarama Mahatthera’s and Ven. Nyanananda’s immense scholarship and erudition as an example we hope that our efforts will benefit others in the knowledge of applying the Buddha’s teachings.
